Hi, I’m Rebecca Tapia.

I’m a working mom of three, physician, podcaster and former roommate of my 90 year old grandmother.

When I was knee deep in my career, raising kids and supporting an aging loved one in my home (my disabled grandmother), I had isolating and intrusive thoughts like ‘where is my breaking point, assuming I get to have one?’, ‘what if she falls’, and ‘what about my own kids’...

But after awhile, something struck me: this feels awful (and not productive, at all). And it’s probably not just me. I’m feeling like this and I love her to pieces, what about my friends who have strained relationships, how do they handle this? Would people talk about this taboo topic on a podcast for the world to hear?

So I got to work, taking everything I know about flowing through the medical system (ER, inpatient stay, rehab, home…), aging in place, family dynamics, cultural pressures, insurance, thoughts & feelings in the brain, financial constraints to break the glass on these difficult conversations…
