Hello (potential) podcast guest!

First off, thank you for taking time to consider being a guest on my podcast “Real conversations about aging parents”. The goals of this podcast are:

  • to bring a voice to the stories of real people with aging parents, often still in the midst of balancing their own careers, children, and health.

  • to feature experts who have insights to share on topics like medical issues, insurance, estate planning, home design, etc.

  • to provide a safe, judgement free space to explore and challenge the thoughts, traditions, and expectations (familial, cultural, religious) that create our actions and emotions on this topic.

  • to provide practical insights, tools, and resources to become more prepared for the season of life with aging parents, whatever that looks like.

    ANY stage of this process is an important point of view.

    • Worried but nothing has happened yet

    • In the thick of it

    • Aging parent has already passed away

FAQ

  • Traditionally, no as the goal is to have an organic (non scripted) conversation whether it’s a personal story or an expert sharing. The podcast is meant to be a spontaneous and lively back and forth which is hard to achieve if we plan too much.

  • Take a look at the FAQs and listen to a few episodes to understand how the interviews go.

  • If you prefer to use a middle name or pseudonym that is totally fine. What is important to me is that you feel that you can be candid and open.

    Your contact information will not be shared unless that is something you are interested in or if there is something I can promote for you.

  • You do not need anything more than a laptop or smart phone. If you happen to own an upgraded mic, please feel free to use that.

  • I want the conversations to sound organic and natural, but of course we always have editing! If you say something and want to have it edited out or replaced, that is easy to do on the back end. I even use a code word, “pineapple” to help track edits. There will be sound editing to remove background noise.

    I am happy to send you a copy of the audio and transcript to review before it is published.

  • I do find it easier to talk to people when we can see each other, but the video portion will not be published unless I have your permission. It is recorded on Zoom.

  • For personal interviews:

    2) When did you first know your parent needed extra help

    3) How did you decide to help them

    4) Do you have siblings, what are their roles?

    5) What are your lessons learned?

    For Experts:

    1) Tell me about your background?

    2) What have you learned?
